Janella

Janella discovered belly dance in 2001 and began her classical Egyptian studies with Autumn Leah Ward and Rachel Kay Brookmire. She has continued her studies with several faculty members of Sahara Dance as well as master instructors in both classical and tribal belly dance.

Janella completed the Sahara Dance Foundations Teacher Training program in 2007. Since then she has held several teaching assistantships, completed Journey through Egypt 2 and is currently in the 2009-2010 Sahara Dance Teacher-In-Training program. Janella has also co-taught beginner belly dance classes at the Sitar Arts Center.

Janella is strongly committed to the growth and creativity of tribal belly dance while having a strong foundation and appreciation for classical Egyptian raqs sharqi. She is currently the company manager for Raqs Caravan West and a member of Raquettes Beledi. Janella performs regularly with Raqs Caravan West and Tribal Remix, a tribal fusion troupe.

Janella wants to share with her students that the fun, energy and excitement of belly dance is accessible to all women.
