Melissa has been out of town for the last two weeks, so we had Ami as a substitute teacher. I really enjoy getting the opportunity to try out different teachers, and seeing what each one does differently. Ami is very good at teaching choreography. Last week, we started out with a combination of a few moves, practiced it several times, and then built on a few more combinations. One of my classmates pointed out that it was like learning a step aerobic routine, where you learn and practice in chunks. Indeed. This week, we reviewed the routine we learned last week, learned a few new moves, and incorporated them into a new combination. At the end of class, when we put together all the little combinations we learned over the past two weeks, I was astonished at how much we were able to do. It didn’t seem like a lot as we learned each chunk, but we really have learned a lot in the first half of the semester!
