Cherra’ accidentally fell in love with belly dance while taking adult tap and hip hop classes at her daughter’s dance studio in Greensboro, North Carolina. The beauty of the art form which celebrates femininity intrigued her to begin classes. She later joined Troupe Bellysima founded by Diane “Daliana” Simons in Greensboro, North Carolina where she was a member for nine years. During that time she experienced instruction from Jillina, Karem Nagi, Amar Gamal, Kaeshi Chai, Donna Mejia, and Sharon Kihara.

Before relocating to Washington DC Cherra’ inquired about where to continue dancing, and her troupe founder highly recommended Sahara Dance. Cherra’ embraced the opportunity to continue classes under Rachel Kay Brookmire, Jennifer, and Ebony. She currently a member of Raqqesat Nadia and Raqqesat Shimmypop. She has also completed the Sahara Dance Teacher Training Program. Combining her sense of musicality from her 15 years of being a violinist and experience of teaching nursing in university settings, Cherra’ hopes to bring a the same joy and love to students that she found when taking her first belly dance class.
