Emotional Expression – December 8, 1:00-3:00pm

How expressive is your performance? Facial expression is infinite, but many of us rely heavily on just a handful of go-to stock faces. Developing a range of expression allows you to broaden your ability to be true to yourself through dance, to connect more deeply with your audience, and to embody the mood of a piece. In this class, we will start with a mini-lecture on girning (face-making), followed by practical exercises for accessing forgotten facial muscles, and projecting numerous emotions and characters through facial (and some full-body) expression techniques. Come ready to laugh, make faces, and deepen your comfort in your own skin. Appropriate for all levels and styles of performance.
