We’re so excited to introduce the Sahara Dance Living Library – a new digital home where you can continue learning, practicing, and finding inspiration whenever it fits your schedule.
Whether you want to sharpen your technique, revisit favorite performances, study rhythms, or keep dancing between classes, the Living Library gives you access to growing collections of classes and performances you can explore from anywhere.
For more than two decades, Sahara Dance has built an incredible collection of classes, choreography, performances, and teaching. Now, for the first time, that collection has a home of its own.
Take a Tour of the Living Library
See what’s waiting inside – from rhythm studies with live drumming to performance collections and replay classes.
What is the Living Library?
Think of it as an online library of Sahara Dance classes, performances, rhythm studies, and exclusive teaching resources – designed to support your learning long after class ends.
Inside, you’ll find two growing collections:
Dance Training
If you’re looking to deepen your technique, build confidence, or keep dancing between classes, the Dance Training collection is designed for you.
Inside you’ll find:
- The newly released Rhythms Collection: 22 hours of classes in 19 foundational Middle Eastern rhythms, three regional rhythm-based Sweat & Shimmy practices, three rhythm-based Stretch & Flow practices, and a Gentle Belly Dance practice—all taught by Rachel with live drumming by Marshall, along with combinations and musical interpretation
- The complete Sahara Dance Foundational Curriculum: short, detailed breakdowns of more than 100 movements and layering combinations, plus five Foundational Curriculum choreographies
- More than 30 hours of replay classes: including Stretch & Flow, Sweat & Shimmy, conditioning, combinations, and more
- New lessons added over time
Whether you’re taking classes every week or dancing from home, you’ll always have something to explore.
Performance Collections
Dance isn’t only something we practice – it’s something we experience.
The Performance Collections bring together more than twenty years of Sahara Dance productions into one place.
You’ll be able to revisit the complete Under A Desert Moon collection, enjoy selected Sahara Dance Caravan performances, watch special productions from our archives, and return to favorite performances whenever inspiration strikes.
For dancers, these performances become another way to learn – watching musical interpretation, group dynamics, stagecraft, and artistic expression unfold over time.
Why “Living” Library?
Because it isn’t meant to stay the same. Unlike a traditional archive, the Living Library will continue to grow. New trainings, performance releases, and future productions will be added throughout the year, giving members something new to return to again and again. As Sahara Dance continues to evolve, so will the library.
Who Is It For?
The Living Library was created for every kind of dancer. Maybe you live nearby and want extra practice between classes. Maybe you’ve moved away but still miss your Sahara Dance community. Maybe you’re just discovering various styles of Middle Eastern dance and want a thoughtful place to begin.
Or maybe you simply love watching beautiful performances and learning more about the music, movement, and artistry behind them. Wherever you are in your dance journey, the Living Library was created to meet you there.
