Omoladun

RAQS SAHARA MEMBER; SAHARA DANCE RESIDENT TEACHER

A trained musician from a young age, Omoladun brings vibrant musical expression to her dance. Omoladun teaches and performs Egyptian raqs sharqi, folkloric dances from the MENA region, and sometimes dabbles in fusion. She began her studies with Keke and Danisa in Osaka, Japan, and performed regularly in the Kansai region. She also performed viola with traditional Turkish musicians and developed further appreciation for odd-numbered rhythms.

Omoladun has studied with renowned international artists such as Nada El Masriya, Sadie, Lebanese Simon, Sahra Saeeda, Bozenka, Aziza, Jrisi, Jillina, Aicha, Khadijah, Amel Tafsout, Kay Hardy Campbell, Karim Nagi, and Sahara Dance faculty.

Omoladun has been a member of Sadie’s Empress Dance Collective in Denver, CO and has performed along the east and west coasts. She has been a faculty member of Sahara Dance in Washington DC since 2010 and is a member of Raqs Sahara. Omoladun is dedicated to sharing with her students the cultural, contextual, and historical knowledge surrounding the dance.
