Chakib Hilali – Oud
Multi-instrumentalist Chakib Hilali grew up in Casablanca, Morocco. While playing oud tonight, he can be seen around the DC area playing keyboard in nightclubs and mizmar in Arabic wedding processions. He also produces music in his studio – Madrigal Productions, and works as a broadcast audio engineer.
Kylie Hilali – Qanun
Originally from Australia, Kylie started playing qanun in California in the 1990s. In addition to playing qanun at dance events and Renaissance festivals, she has been spotted playing bass guitar in dive bars and laying down Afro-Brazilian drum beats in street carnivals around the world!
Abderrahim Amthqal – Ney
Hailing from Essaouira, Morocco, Abderrahim’s exquisite ney flute playing is in demand at dance and cultural events! He also loves to play the saxophone, and is a skilled photographer – he especially loves nature photography and is available as a photographer for events.
Heather Spence – Cello
Heather Spence is a musician, composer, and marine biologist based in Arlington, VA. Known for her creative approach to blending science and music, her work has been featured on National Geographic, supported by the National Academy of Sciences, and explores how humans connect with our Ocean planet and each other.
