This new technique class will explore the captivating interplay between Egyptian raqs sharqi and flamenco. Highlighting the power and expressiveness of flamenco alongside the grace and playfulness of belly dance, this series takes inspiration from Andalusia’s rich history as a melting pot of cultures, languages, and the arts. Each class will include drills for alignment and conditioning, as well as combinations and choreography with a particular focus on clean execution and dynamic expression.
This class is geared towards intermediate students and above. A solid understanding of the low intermediate curriculum and some prior exposure to props will serve as the foundation as we layer in the unique movements, rhythms, instrumentation, and emotion of flamenco and stylized Spanish dance.
