Mobility That Moves: Strength & Joint Control for Dancers Workshop with Liz, Oct 31, 1:30-3:25 pm

Price range: $30.00 through $40.00

Build usable mobility, joint strength, and greater control in your movement.

Dancers need mobility—but flexibility alone isn’t always enough. Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) is a mobility and strength training system designed to improve how your joints move while building strength and control throughout your available ranges of motion.

In this workshop, you’ll learn practical techniques to better understand your own mobility and develop stronger, more resilient joints for dance and everyday movement.
We’ll begin with a guided, full-body joint mobility routine that can also serve as a simple way to assess how different areas of your body are moving. From there, we’ll explore targeted exercises and movement flows focused on areas particularly important for dancers, including:

  • Hips: improving active range of motion, strength, and control
  • Upper back/thoracic spine: developing mobility and control for posture, rotation, and expressive movement
  • Ankles and feet: building mobility, strength, and awareness from the ground up

This workshop is appropriate for all dance and mobility levels. If you tend to feel stiff or limited, you’ll learn strategies for gradually expanding your usable range of motion. If you are very flexible or hypermobile, the emphasis will instead be on building strength and control within the range you already have.

The goal is not simply to become “more flexible,” but to develop mobility you can actively control and use, giving you tools to support your body and dancing over the long term.

What to bring:
Please bring a yoga, exercise, or other comfortable floor mat. Yoga blocks are helpful if you have them, but they are not required.

Format: Approximately 90 minutes of instruction; optional 30 minutes at the end for additional questions and individual troubleshooting.
