Esmeralda celebrates 25 years of Arabic Dance in a soulful tour where she aims to raise awareness on the Ageism in the industry as well as the importance of recognizing Arabic culture/countries/identities in order to have a timeless career.
Esmeralda becomes one with all her chapters and eras, breaking the turban bubble with a stormy narrative, many reflections and unforgettable tributes while taking her dance skills to the next level as a 40yo dancer with one of the most unique careers in the industry.
The Silver Tour Intensive Includes 4 Workshops:

• Lebanese Pop: technique and choreography (2 hours)
August 8, Friday 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Let’s combine the strength of the Levantine with the feminine energy of raqs sharqi for a girl power performance in this worldwide acclaimed class!

• Fusion from the Heart (2  hours)
August 9, Saturday 1:30 – 3:30 pm
Elements from contemporary dance and raqs sharqi blended together in a beautiful Brazilian instrumental piece.

• ⁠Musical Interpretation (2 hours)
August  9, Saturday 3:30 – 5:30 pm
Musical Interpretation: learn how to identify and when to prioritize the 3 essential layers in belly dance music.

• ⁠Dance Trip: from Maghreb to Levantine  (2 hours)
August 10, Sunday 9:00 – 11:00 am
⁠Dance Trip: from Maghreb to Levantine is a technique class where we learn dance moves from different cultures/societies that are essential to the belly dance repertoire.

The intensive is designed for intermediate / advanced through professional dancers. Registration is now open for full-weekend participants.

Private Evaluation with Esmeralda (15 minutes / additional $95)
As a special opportunity for intensive participants only, private 15-minute, in-person dance evaluations with Esmeralda will be available on Sunday, August 10th. Only 10 slots are available, studio rental included. Registration for private evaluations will be offered to intensive participants on a first come, first serve basis, in order of their intensive registration dates (and so long as spots remain available). Dancers perform for up to 7 minutes (max) followed by Esmeralda’s impressions and recommendations on how to best improve as an artist.

Hybrid (In Person + Virtual): Your hybrid workshop registration secures your physical spot in the studio, as well as access to the class online. Workshops are held at our Sahara Dance studio in Tenley: 4433 Wisconsin Ave, NW, Washington DC. You may attend the workshop live, in-person, or live-streaming, online. Registered students have access to video recordings of each class for 30 days following the workshop.

ESMERALDA COLABONE

Brazilian with Italian roots and an Arabic heart, Esmeralda dances since the age of 4. Soloist, teacher, choreographer, competition judge, writer, producer, polyglot, mother, Esmeralda is one of the biggest names in the world of Belly Dance today, having visited, taught and danced in 37 countries so far. Esmeralda was the youngest Brazilian dancer to be accepted at La Maison de L’Artiste from Lebanon – ME’s biggest entertainment/ artist agency (1980 – 2015) responsible for providing 80% of the dancers and musicians for the best hotels in the Middle East, Gulf and North Africa. Together with the agency, from 2002 to 2014, Esmeralda built one fo the biggest Brazilian careers, having on elf the longest contracts in Tunisia and being the first dancer to tour in the Mahgreb (Morocco, Algeria & Tunisia). In 2024, Esmeralda celebrates her 25 years in the BD scene.
